Let’s face it, we’ve all been excited for Christmas not because of the presents or the festive feasts, but because Gavin and Stacey is back!
‘Nessa’ and ‘Gavlar’ will grace our screens once again, eight years on and almost 10 years after the original ending of the show.
The eagerly anticipated return of the hit BBC sitcom was announced in May, with Matthew Horne, who plays Gavin, later saying it is the best episode yet.
But what time is it on? What’s occurin?
The Gavin and Stacey Christmas Special will air on Christmas Day at 8:30pm on BBC One. Lush.
The popular show written by and starring James Corden and Ruth Jones was last on our screens as a Christmas and New Year’s Day special from 2009 to 2010.
But now, will begin again with a return trip to Barry in South Wales.
Gavin and Stacey, which first aired in 2007 and stretched to 20 episodes across three seasons, won two BAFTAs in 2008 and best new British comedy at the British Comedy Awards in 2007 as well as an NTA in 2010.
The programme has also been well received in several other countries in which it has aired. In 2019, Gavin & Stacey was named the 17th greatest British sitcom in a poll by Radio Times.
The show follows the romance between Gavin, from Billericay in Essex, and Stacey, from Barry in the Vale of Glamorgan, Wales. Initially, Gavin lives with his parents, Pam and Mick, and spends most of his time with his best friend, Smithy.
Stacey lives with her widowed mother, Gwen, and is frequently visited by her uncle, Bryn, who lives across the road, and by her best friend Nessa.
The series follows the key moments in their relationship: their first meeting, meeting each other’s families, getting engaged, marrying, looking for a flat, briefly splitting up, looking for new jobs and trying for children.
