US envoy rejects danger from Joe Biden that Boris Johnson’s Brexit monthly bill could harm trade offer with ‘our friend’ the United kingdom

The US ambassador has rejected a danger from Joe Biden that Boris Johnson‘s Brexit monthly bill could harm a trade offer with Britain, and explained Washington had ‘no higher friend’ than the United kingdom, The Mail on Sunday can expose.

The ambassador was responding to DUP MP Ian Paisley, who wrote to him expressing it was ‘preposterous’ to hear Mr Biden say the Invoice would threaten trade involving the two nations.

Mr Paisley urged Mr Johnson to ‘make it obvious the United kingdom and United states of america are open for enterprise and blockading trade with the United kingdom would basically do extra to harm peace in Northern Eire.’

In reaction, Mr Johnson thanked Mr Paisley for ‘highlighting the sturdy relationship’ involving the two nations and his do the job to ‘advance the gains, economically socially and politically, in Northern Ireland’.

He additional: ‘The United States has no higher buddy than the United Kingdom, and we perspective our deep determination to Northern Eire and its people as element of that friendship.’

Tory MPs condemned Mr Biden’s attack on the Government’s try to let Ministers override element of the EU Withdrawal Agreement.

And Mr Paisley explained: ‘Anyone who believes halting trade involving the United kingdom and the United states of america is an alternative wants their head examined.’ 

He explained the ambassador’s letter ‘put Mr Biden back in his box’, adding: ‘How dare the Democrats threaten to demolish the economic prospect brought about by peace?’

Last night, a source shut to the Trump administration explained the US had not designed any recommendation to the United kingdom that the consequence of trade talks was conditional on the UK’s position on Northern Eire.
