Temperatures are set to soar to summer-like levels across Wales this weekend ahead of a cool down at the middle of next week.

Southern areas of the country are in for the best conditions as sunshine dominates and dry weather continues.

Following highs peaking at 22C on Saturday, September 19 more of the same will carry on into Sunday.

According to the Met Office, early cloud will clear quickly to leave a dry day with widespread clear skies and plenty of sunshine.

More warmth and sunshine is set to return to Wales this weekend

The day will start off breezy, but less so than Saturday, with winds easing throughout the day.

Temperatures will once again push to around 22C in South Wales, and near the 20-degree mark in Mid Wales.

North Wales will be slightly cooler with maximum temperatures around 19C.

The warm and sunny weather could provide one of the last chances to enjoy the beach or head out on camping trips before autumn gets underway.

A quick cool down is in store for Wales around the middle of next week, as a band of rain moving across the country restores temperatures to more seasonable levels.

After Sunday, each afternoon will see a degree or two knocked off of the temperature from the previous day.

Highs will bottom out on Thursday, where some locations will fail to rise above 12C.
