Spain announces plans to welcome back foreign tourists in July

Foreign tourists will be able to enjoy a summer holiday in Spain from July, the country’s Prime Minister confirms.

Bars, hotels, restaurants and inland hotels were told to “prepare to resume business in a few days”.

The news means that the country’s hospitality industries will be able to start operating just in time for the peak of the summer season, the Express reports.

In a conference held this afternoon, Mr Sanchez said: “We must begin to restart economic activity.

“Some of these sectors are hostelry and tourism, which have a fundamental role in the creation of employment.

“The moment has arrived. I’m announcing to you that there will be a tourist season this year and I invite all tourist establishments to start to prepare from today to restart their activity in a few days from now.”

He said tourism in July would be “in safe conditions.”
