A woman is in hospital being treated for stab wounds following an alleged assault in Cardiff, police have said.
The 40-year-old was taken to hospital on Friday night after police were called to the scene of an alleged incident in the Adamsdown area of the capital at around 7.40pm. She is being treated for stab wounds.
Police remained at the scene late on Friday following the incident and a scene was preserved by officers investigating the incident.
In a brief statement a South Wales Police spokesman did not say exactly where the incident had happened but confirmed a woman was in hospital and said inquiries into what had happened were ongoing.
The spokesman said: “Police in Cardiff are investigating an assault which was reported at around 7.40pm this evening in the Adamsdown area of Cardiff.
“A 40 year-old local woman has been taken to the University Hospital of Wales where she is being treated for stab wounds.
“A scene is being preserved at the address and enquiries are continuing.”
