Christmas came early for a mum-of two when she was preparing Brussels for a festive meal – and spotted the face of Jesus.
Shaunagh Robert, 34, spotted the portrait of the Messiah on the surface of the ‘Devil’s veg’ while prepping a batch for the pan.
Shaunagh says she was just about to cut a cross into the sprout when she spotted the image.
She decided to save it from the plate.
Shaunagh, who describes herself as ‘spiritual’, called her children Jack, 14, and 10-year-old Michael over to have a look at her bizarre discovery.
After taking a quick snap the Jesus lookalike was spared from her dinner as Shaunaugh ‘didn’t have the heart to cook him’.

Shaunagh, from Waltham Abbey, Essex, said: “I was taking out the sprouts, topping and tailing them, and putting a cross on the bottom.
“When I saw the face I remember thinking ‘oh my god, it could be Jesus’ what with it being so close to Christmas.
“I didn’t have the heart to cook him so I left the sprout in a corner cupboard and he just sat up there for a little while.
“After he stopped looking like Jesus he got put in the green recycling bin.
“I thought it was funny and it was even funnier because I found him just before Christmas.
“When I saw the face I shouted to the kids ‘look, I don’t know if it’s Johnny Depp or Jesus’.
“I said to my friends ‘I wished for Johnny Depp for Christmas and I got him at the bottom of a sprout.”
Shaunagh was prepping the veg including potatoes, carrots, sprouts, swede and parsnips from her local greengrocer when she made the funny discovery.

It took her around 20 minutes to prep them, before they were paired with turkey and gammon.
Full-time mum Shaunagh said: “I’m not particularly religious, I’d describe myself as very open, I enjoy exploring all elements of people’s religions and beliefs so I’d probably describe myself as spiritual.
“When I spotted this particular sprout I thought it was funny, it just made me laugh.”
Despite Brussel Sprouts traditionally being the most maligned part of Christmas Dinner, Shaunagh is a big fan and says the secret is the way you cook them.
Shaunagh said: “I like sprouts, it’s the way you cook them. I don’t do soggy sprouts.
“I like them roasted with a little bit of parmesan or with a little bit of maple syrup and nutmeg or a little bit of bacon.”
Since sharing a picture of the holy veg online, people have noticed the uncanny resemblance to Jesus, but also other famous faces.
One person likened the face to Dave Grohl from the Foo Fighters, another to Johnny Depp and the green veg even has a look of The Beatles guitarist George Harrison.
Sineade McGuigan commented: “I’d say it looks a bit like Dave Grohl.”
