Class A drugs with a potential value of thousands of pounds have been seized after police raided property in mid Wales.

Officers from Dyfed-Powys Police carried out a stop and search in the village of Meifod in Powys on Thursday afternoon.

As a result they conducted a search of a property in nearby Welshpool, where what police officers described as a “large quantity of heroin and cocaine” – around 107 grams in total – was discovered.

As well as the drugs haul, more than £1,000 in cash was recovered from the property.

Two men have been arrested.

A spokesman for Dyfed-Powys Police said: “Following a stop and search in Meiford at 12.35pn on Thursday, January 14, officers searched a property in Welshpool.

“Approximately 100 grams of heroin and seven grams of cocaine were recovered, as well as more than £1,000 in cash.

“Two men, aged 55 and 53, were arrested on suspicion of possession with intent to supply. They have since been released under investigation.”
