A new recipe has been born thanks to the marriage of two of mankind’s greatest culinary inventions – lasagna and tiger bread.
Ryan Broad demonstrated how he had baked an entire lasagna inside a hollowed out loaf – and more than 10,000 people shared his idea in 24 hours.
Ryan uploaded his invention to the Rate My Plate Facebook group , which said: “Credit where due mate this looks fantastic!”
Sharing pictures of his dish under construction Ryan said you start by following any lasagna recipe to create the tomato and meat sauce – though you could also go for a veggie option.
He hollowed out a loaf of tiger bread, then layered the tomato sauce, fresh pasta – which he says is easier to shape into the loaf – and bechemel sauce inside it.
He then put the ‘lid’ back on top, basted the whole thing in garlic butter and baked for 25 minutes at gas 6.
Ryan added: “It was amazing to say the least. Enjoy.”
People have been raving about the creation.
George Harvey wrote: “You’ve literally just re-invented the wheel”
Kris Green wrote: “This looks absolutely banging”
Sam Liddle added: “I need to change my dinner to this quick”
Others have come up with suggestions, Ermintrude Petunia wrote: “I bought a tiger loaf and scooped most of the bread out, buttered the inside and filled it with chippy chips with loads of salt and vinegar. Ate the lot and felt sick as a dog after but it was worth it.”
The creation is reminiscent of Elvis’s favourite snack – a Fool’s Gold Loaf. That is a loaf of bread, hollowed out and filled with bacon, peanut butter, grape jam and banana.
