An 84-year-old man has died after being involved in a two-vehicle crash in Swansea.
The pensioner was involved in a two-vehicle collision near the CEM Day car dealership in Gorseinon on February 23.
Despite the best efforts of medical staff and those at the scene, the man, who was driving a silver Honda Jazz vehicle, could not be saved.
The driver of the second car, a Jaguar XF, was taken to hospital, but his injuries are not believed to be serious.
South Wales Police is now investigating the incident and are encouraging anyone who witnessed it to come forward with information.
They say they particularly want to speak to two male occupants of a black Ford Focus which was parked near the scene at the time of the collision, believed to have been looking at cars for sale.
A spokesman for South Wales Police said: “We are investigating a fatal road traffic collision which occurred in Gorseinon, Swansea, this morning.
“Emergency services were called to the two-vehicle collision near the CEM Day car dealership on Swansea Road at approximately 11.15am.
“The driver of a silver Honda Jazz vehicle, an 84-year-old local man, was taken to Morriston Hospital with serious injuries. Despite the best efforts of medical staff and those at the scene he has since died.
“His next of kin has been informed and are being supported by specially trained officers.
“The 39-year-old driver of the second vehicle, a black Jaguar XF, was also taken to hospital but his injuries are not believed to be serious.
“A road closure has been in place while collision investigation work was conducted. The road is expected to reopen shortly and motorists are thanked for their patience.
“Officers from the serious collision investigation unit are appealing to anyone who witnessed the collision, or either vehicle in the moments prior to it, to contact police.
“In particular they’d like to hear from two male occupants of a black Ford Focus which was parked near the scene at the time of the collision. The males are believed to have been looking at cars for sale at the time of the collision, and may be able to assist the investigation.
“Officers would also like to hear from anyone with any dash-cam, mobile phone or CCTV footage from the area.

A Welsh Ambulance Service spokesman added: “We were called this morning, Tuesday, February 23 at 11.16am to reports of a two vehicle road traffic collision on Swansea Road, Gorseinon.
“We sent two emergency ambulances, two rapid response vehicles, an urgent care doctor and the Wales Air Ambulance. Two patients were taken by road to Morriston Hospital, Swansea for further treatment.”
A Mid and West Wales Fire Service spokesman said firefighters also attended the incident and made the scene safe.
