GMB presenter Kate Garraway has brought her husband home from hospital after he went in with Covid-19 in March 2020, it’s been reported.

Derek Draper has reportedly been taken off machines and will receive round-the-clock care at the Garraway’s residence in North London – where he was driven in an ambulance on Wednesday (April 7).

The 53-year-old has been fighting for his life for a year, and now it’s being reported that he will be allowed to continue his recovery at home.

Kate and the couple’s kids – 11-year-old Billy and 15-year-old Darcey – have been warned that he still faces a “long and gruelling” fight to full health, reports MirrorOnline.

A friend told The Sun: “Kate’s dreamt of this day for so long, and can’t thank wonderful NHS staff enough.”

They added: “The children, who have been so remarkably resilient, have been so, so happy to have their dad home. There have been a lot of happy tears from everyone.”

According to the friend, Derek and Kate are stronger than ever following his worrying health battle, adding: “She has been such a rock, and a total inspiration to everyone in Britain battling their own horror stories with the pernicious disease.”

After Derek was hospitalised in March last year, he was put into an induced coma which lasted 13 weeks.

He awoke from that in July but his recovery will reportedly be a slow process as the virus has “attacked everything”, leaving him with clots in his lungs, holes in his heart and made him diabetic.

Doctors have warned Kate that Derek might never recover from the damage done to his body.

Devastating news of Derek’s condition saw Kate take an extended leave from GMB to be with her family, before defiantly returning to the show in July with her head held high.
