A woman has accused Prince Andrew of sleeping with her after being sex trafficked to the UK by convicted paedophile Jeffrey Epstein.
The BBC’s Panorama programme spoke to Virginia Giuffre who claims she was sex trafficked to the UK by convicted paedophile Jeffrey Epstein in order to have sex with Prince Andrew.
Ms Giuffre, then known as Virginia Roberts, was pictured in a photo alongside Prince Andrew with his arm around the then 17-year-old with socialite Ghislane Mawell in the background, believed to have been taken in 2001.
It was claimed by the Duke of York in his recent interview with Newnight’s Emily Maitlis that he had no recollection of meeting Ms Giuffre and categorically denied having sex with her.
He also said that the photo depicting him with Ms Giuffre may have been doctored, but in her interview with Darrah MacIntyre the 35-year-old said this was “BS”.
She said: “The people on the inside are going to keep coming up with these ridiculous excuses.
“Like his arm was elongated or the photo was doctored, or he came to New York to break up with Jeffrey Epstein. I mean, come on, I’m calling BS on this, because that’s what it is.
“He knows what happened. I know what happened and there’s only one of us telling the truth, and I know that’s me.”
Ms Giuffre said she had given the original photo to the FBI and they were investigating whether it was a real photo.
The documentary was told that Ms Giuffre was abused from a young age and had her “childhood taken away from her”.
She claims she was approached by Ms Maxwell in Palm Beach, Florida, and was asked if she wanted to train as a massage therapist.
She told MacIntyre that she was taken to Jeffrey Epstein’s home where she claims she was forced to massage him and carry out sexual acts.
Ms Giuffre said she was forced to perform massages and sex acts on other people, and described being passed around “like a platter of fruit”.
She said she met Prince Andrew at Ms Maxwell’s home in London and went to Tramp nightclub in Mayfair where they danced. She said “his sweat was like it was raining basically everywhere”.
The Prince had told Newsnight that he “can’t sweat” because of a medical condition and that on the day of their alleged meeting he was at Pizza Express with his daughter Princess Beatrice.
Ms Giuffre alleges that on the way back to Ms Maxwell’s home, she was told by Ms Maxwell she would “have to do for Andrew what she would do for Epstein”.
Ms Giuffre said: “I just didn’t expect it from royalty and I didn’t expect it from someone people looked up to and admire in the Royal Family.”
She added: “There was a bath, it started there, and led to the bedroom. It didn’t last very long, the whole entire procedure.
“It was disgusting, he wasn’t mean or anything, he got up, said thanks, walked out and I sat there in the bed just horrified and ashamed.
“I felt dirty, got up, had a shower and the next day Ghislane said I did a really good job and made him really happy.
“It was a wicked time in my life. I had just been abused by a member of the Royal Family. These powerful people were my chains and I didn’t know what had happened. I couldn’t comprehend how the higher levels of government were not only allowing this to happen but participating in it.”
She also claimed that she was forced to have sex with Prince Andrew again at Epstein’s mansion in New York and again in an orgy at a Caribbean Island owned by Epstein.
Epstein was convicted in 2008 of procuring an underage girl for prosecution and of soliciting a prostitute, and served almost 13 months imprisonment.
He was arrested again in 2019 for charges of sex trafficking minors but was found dead in his jail cell on August 10 in an expected suicide.
Prince Andrew categorically denies the accusations, as does Ms Maxwell.
