An English man was found sleeping in his car on Sunday night, and told police he had broke Wales’ lockdown rules to “climb Snowdon alone.”

The man, from Rotherham area, was found sleeping in his car in a layby in the Conwy Valley. According to North Wales Police, he told the officer who found him that he was well aware of the “all-Wales Covid lockdown in place but decided he would chance coming to North Wales as he wanted to climb Snowdon alone.”

Police said: “In the early hours of Sunday morning PC Parry came across a male sleeping in a car in a layby close to Tal Y Cafn.

“The occupant was from the Rotherham area, he told the officer he had been up Snowdon and that he was well aware of the all Wales Covid lockdown in place but decided he would chance coming to North Wales as he wanted to climb Snowdon alone.

“This male realised he would receive a frosty reception if caught. Male has been reported for summons for breaching Covid legislation and informed he should return home.”
