A new bar, which includes axe throwing as part of the in-house entertainment, is set to open in Cardiff city centre.
Only the second of its kind in the UK, Boom: Battle Bar will appear in the Brewery Quarter this autumn and also features hammerschiagen – a Bavarian game in which involves knocking nails into tree stump with a hammer.
In addition, electronic darts, virtual reality experiences, ping pong, crazy golf, bar billiards, shuffleboard and arcade games will also be present.
The 12,500 square foot bar, which so far has a site in Norwich, will help create 25 new jobs and will be situated on the previous location of Chiquitos’ Mexican restraurant.
There will also be a large outside bar and seating area, complete with big screens showing all the latest sporting events, and, when in full swing, the venue is capable of holding up to 300 people – although, how much that will be affected by social distancing guidelines remains to be seen.
“We are absolutely thrilled to be opening soon and be a part of this special and completely original project,” said store franchisee James Wilson.
“It will be the second Boom: Battle Bar in the country to open and we’re so proud it’s in Cardiff. It’s a totally awesome venue, a huge first for the city and all the residents.”
He added, “Boom: Battle Bar has it all, brilliant social activities as well as bringing new games to the city centre.
“I predict this will be the number one place in Cardiff to socialise and host group events. The floor space is amazing, I’ve never seen anything like it.
“We can’t wait to welcome guests from all over Wales.”
Boom: Battle Bar bosses say it will serve a range of street food, as well as an extensive range of craft beer, IPAs, spirits and cocktails, as well as a special bespoke beer’ on tap, plus a large selection of non-alcoholic ales, gins, and ciders are also available.
Franchises will also be popping up in the likes of London, Oxford, Swindon, Newcastle, Manchester and Hull later this year.
