Alex Jones has revealed that she is taking an unexpected break from hosting The One Show after a friend of hers tested positive for coronavirus.
The episode was being hosted by fellow Welsh TV personality Gethin Jones and Alex Scott, leaving fans to wonder where the show’s main presenter was.
About five minutes in, however, Jones did appear on screen, but not in the studio. She appeared from her kitchen at home via video-link.
She explained her absence and said that she hoped to be back in just over a weeks’ time.
“I’m absolutely gutted that I’m not there but what’s happened is – a friend of mine, somebody from outside of work, who I saw a few days ago, has tested positive for coronavirus,” revealed Jones.
“So we’ve done the right thing as a family and we’re just isolating.
“I’ve taken a test and thankfully it’s negative – by the way, my friend is fine as well – but we are staying in, we’re following guidelines and I’ll probably be back at work the week after next, all being well.”
According to the NHS, people are advised to self-isolate if someone they live with, or who is in their support bubble, has symptoms or has tested positive, or if they have been told to self-isolate by NHS Test and Trace.

Jones, who is 43, has been a co-host on The One Show since 2010 when she replaced Christine Bleakley.
For the majority of that time she hosted the show alongside Matt Baker, who left the role in March this year.
