A4119 closed between Williamstown and Tonypandy as air ambulance called to crash between car and motorbike


A road has been closed and an air ambulance has been called after a crash involving a car and a motorbike between Williamstown and Tonypandy.

The crash happened shortly after 5pm on Wednesday on the A4119 and the road is now closed between its junction with Cornwall Road in Williamstown and the junction with Gelli Road in Tonypandy.

A spokesman for the Welsh Ambulance Service confirmed an air ambulance attended the scene as well as South Wales Police and South Wales Fire and Rescue Service.

The A4119 was closed in both directions to allow the air ambulance to land, causing heavy traffic in the area.

A spokesman for the Welsh Ambulance Service said shortly before 7.30pm: “The job is still ongoing. We have attended and are on our way to hospital at the moment.”

They confirmed that they received a call alerting them to the incident at 5.13pm.

There are no details of any potential injuries sustained at present.

Traffic service Inrix showed the A4119 as still closed in both directions shortly after 7.30pm.
