rainbow_ribbonBritish tennis player Laura Robsen has created a stir after wearing a rainbow flag hairband in support of equal rights.

The Maragret Court, named after the famous outspoken tennis player who is against gay rights and marriage, played host to Robsen’s first round match at the Australian open.

Court, who has often spoken out about her objection to gay marriage and rights claimed last week that: "Politically correct education has masterfully escorted homosexuality out from behind closed doors, into the community openly and now is aggressively demanding marriage rights that are not theirs to take."

After the match, Seventeen-year-old Robsen spoke of how she had recently heard the comments made by Court. In regards to the hairband, she told the media: "I wore it because I believe in equal rights for everyone. That's it. It's not a protest, it's just a hairband."

The court has recently been under criticism from the public and former champions, Billie-Jean King and Martina Navratilova who are both gay.

These criticisms have led to a call for the arena to be renamed.
